After 5 years the Ithaca Skatepark needs renovation
After every rainfall, a pond, often
12inches deep, forms at the park. The pond is a self perpetuating
problem caused because the park is sinking. It renders a large part
of the park unusable, ruins skateboards that accidentally go in
it, and creates a safety/health hazard.
A smaller pool of water also forms in the bowl area.
The metal edge on this wall fell off and has never been replaced.
Dangerous cracks have formed at
the top and bottom of this bank, again because the park is sinking.
Skateboard wheels which are typically 50-60mm in diameter can be
stopped by these cracks, causing the rider to fall off the board.
